Today Cherokee County Sheriff, Jeff Shaver, announced his full endorsement of Katherine Robertson in the race for Alabama Attorney General, marking Robertson’s 18th overall law enforcement endorsement.
Sheriff Shaver, a law enforcement veteran with nearly twenty years of service as sheriff, cited his close working relationship with Robertson as Chief Counsel in the Attorney General’s Office and further highlighting her record of tirelessly fighting for law enforcement professionals from around Alabama.
“As the Sheriff of Cherokee County for nearly twenty years, I understand the importance of having a true and tested advocate for law enforcement in the AG’s Office,” Sheriff Shaver said. “Having gotten to know and work with Katherine during her tenure as Chief Counsel, I am convinced that she is the right person for the job. The transition from General Marshall’s leadership to hers will be seamless and that will benefit the entire law enforcement community. She has my full support and I look forward to helping her win.”
Robertson commented on the endorsement by saying, “It is an honor to have Sheriff Shaver on our side in this race and I am thankful for his endorsement. For two decades he has led with unwavering resolve, and his trust means a great deal to me. Having worked side by side with law enforcement leaders as Chief Counsel, I have demonstrated my unwavering commitment to support them without apology and to ensure that they have the tools they need to keep Alabama safe.”
Robertson’s campaign continues to see overwhelming support and momentum in the race, having received numerous high profile and coveted endorsements from 18 law enforcement leaders, farmers, small business organizations and more. Robertson credits her proven record of taking on the tough fights and winning for the people of Alabama and conservatives as well as her unapologetic support of law enforcement as the reason for the success the campaign has had thus far.
